Ingredients

  • 1 Package ( 16 Oz) Lasagna Noodles
  • 2 Pounds Ground Beef
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Dried Cilantro Flakes
  • 1 Onion
  • 2 Cans Traditional Pasta Sauce (24 oz each)
  • 1 24 Oz Small Curd Cottage Cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Teaspoon Parsley Flakes
  • 1 Cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/2 Cup Mozzarella Cheese

Instructions

  • Gather all the ingredients.
  • Cut onion into small pieces.
  • Cook lasagna noodles. Follow directions on the package. Drain water rinse, and set aside to use later.
  • Heat a pot and add ground beef. Break up chunks of meat and cook until browned and no longer pink. Drain off fat and then return to the stove.
  • Add onions, garlic powder, salt, and cilantro flakes. Cook for 3-5 minutes. Then add the pasta sauce. Lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • In a bowl add cottage cheese, egg, and 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese. Mix together.
  • Add a small amount of sauce to the lasagna pan. Layer lasagna noodles on top, followed by cottage cheese mixture, and meat sauce. Repeat the steps until you get to the top.
  • When at the top add meat sauce and then top with the rest of the parmesan and mozzarella cheese.
  • Cover and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove from oven, uncover, and then return to the oven and bake for an additional 25 minutes.
  • After done cooking remove the lasagna from the oven and let it sit for 10-20 minutes.

How To Store?

Properly stored lasagna should last in the fridge for 3-4 days.

Can You Make Ahead?

You can prepare the lasagna ahead of time and then refrigerate for up to 2 days before baking.

How To Reheat?

Reheat lasagna in the oven for 30 minutes or until fully heated.
Reheat thawed frozen lasagna covered in the oven. Bake for 65-70 minutes or until fully heated. During the last 10-15 minutes of cooking time remove the foil so you can brown the top. Let the lasagna sit for 10-15 minutes before eating.

Can You Freeze Lasagna?

Yes, you can freeze lasagna. After cooking, you will want to let it cool down completely. If you try to freeze hot lasagna it could cause ice crystals to form which can lead to freezer burn and mushy lasagna.
Once cooled down, wrap it tightly with plastic wrap. Cover the top with tin foil. if you are freezing cooked lasagna you can cut it and portion it out and then freeze in smaller freezer-safe containers or wrap the lasagna individually with plastic wrap and then freeze in freezer-safe bags.
Label with the name and date and then freeze. Lasagna can last in the freezer for up to 3 months.
