Nothing is better than a hot pot of delicious chili loaded with ground beef, beans, tomatoes, onions, and seasonings. Easy meal to make for a crowd.

Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Ground Beef
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 Onion
  • 2 Teaspoons Minced Garlic
  • 2 Teaspoons Chili Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cumin
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • 2 Cups Beef Broth
  • 1 Can ( 15 Oz) Kidney Bean ( Rinsed and Drained)
  • 1 Can ( 15 Oz) Black Bean ( Rinsed and Drained)
  • 1 Can ( 15 Oz) Diced Tomatoes

Instructions

  • Cut onion into small pieces. Open cans of beans rinse and drain. Set them aside to use later. Open a can of tomato, save the juices. Set aside.
  • Heat a pot with a small amount of oil. Add ground beef to the pot and cook until browned. Break up chunks of the meat while cooking. After done cooking drain fat from the meat.
  • Return to the stove and add onions and minced garlic. Stir everything together. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add beans, tomato, beef broth, sugar, and all spices(chili powder, salt, cumin, red pepper flakes)
  • Stir everything together.
  • Bring to a boil and then reduce heat and let the chili simmer for 20 minutes ( keep uncovered). Stir occasionally. Taste and add additional seasonings if needed.
  • Top with your favorite toppings.

Storing Instructions

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.
Reheat on the stove-top or in the microwave.

Can You Freeze Chili

Yes, you can freeze chili. The first thing you need to do is let the chili cool down completely. Once it is fully cooled you can then transfer it to a freezer-safe container or bag. Lay the chili flat in the freezer and freeze. Label with name and date. Freeze for up to 1 month.
Reheat frozen chili by thawing first and then heat on the stove in a saucepan or in the microwave.
