Then you can remove it from the pan and let it cool further on a cooling rack. If you try and remove it when it is hot, it could break apart and that would be a mess. When your cake has completely cooled down then you can put the frosting on.

I used a lemon cake mix for this recipe. For the lemon cake mix, you need to add eggs, water, and oil. To give the cake the reddish color, I used red food coloring. For the toppings, I used vanilla frosting, red writing gel, and edible dessert decoration candy eyeballs.

  • The first thing I do is gather all my ingredients and make sure I have everything I need before I start baking.
  • Then you preheat your oven to 350.
  • While the oven is heating up you will make your cake mix.
  • Open the package of cake mix and pour it into a bowl.
  • Then you will add water and oil to the bowl and stir around.
  • In a separate small bowl crack the eggs and beat them around to mix them.
  • Now you will pour the eggs into the bowl with the cake mix.

  • Then you will add 2-6 drops of food coloring to the bowl. The amount of food coloring added will depend on how red you want the cake to look. I just added a couple of drops.
  • Stir all the ingredients around well and then whisk for 2 minutes.
  • Grease the bottom of your loaf pan with cooking spray or oil.
  • Now you will pour the cake batter into the loaf pan.

  • When the cake is finished baking remove carefully from the oven and let it cool down. Test with a toothpick to make sure there is no wet batter. If it comes out clean your cake is done.

  • When the cake is fully cooled down then you can go ahead and spread the icing on the top of the cake.
