What is alfredo sauce?
Alfredo Sauce is a white creamy sauce that is usually poured over pasta noodles. It is simple to make and very tasty. You need a few simple ingredients and a short amount of time to get this delicious sauce made.
What are the ingredients for alfredo sauce?
Alfredo Sauce Ingredients:
The great thing about making Alfredo sauce is you just need a few ingredients.
Butter: I use butter but you can substitute for olive oil if you prefer.
Minced garlic: finely chopped or minced garlic.
Heavy cream: I use heavy cream but you can use milk if you prefer.
Coconut Milk: adds a great flavor to the Alfredo sauce. You can use the heavy cream or substitute for milk if you don’t like coconut milk.
Salt: makes the coconut milk taste even better.
Curry Powder: adds a great tasting flavor and since we are adding only 1 teaspoon it does not take away from the Alfredo sauce taste. You can decide not to add it if you don’t like curry.
Parmesan Cheese: best to use fresh Parmesan cheese.
Cilantro: works great to sprinkle on top.
How to make alfredo sauce from scratch
In a bowl add heavy cream, coconut milk, salt, and curry powder.
In a large saucepan melt butter over medium heat.
Add minced garlic and stir around for 30 seconds to let the garlic cook.
Then add your bowl mixture and stir around well for about 2 minutes.

Yes, you can substitute milk instead of the heavy cream. You can also use half and half. If the sauce does not thicken well you can add 1 teaspoon of flour.
How long can alfredo sauce stay fresh?
If we have any leftovers, I pour into a jar and seal. It usually lasts in the refrigerator for about 4-5 days.
Can I freeze alfredo Sauce?
Yes, you can freeze Alfredo sauce. Place it in a freezer-safe container and freeze for later. Since alfredo is quick and easy to make, I usually don’t freeze mine.
Can you reheat Alfredo sauce?
If you are going to reheat you will want to do it slowly. Heat on low heat stirring frequently. I would only reheat it once and not in the microwave. If you are going to reheat in the microwave do it in 30-second intervals and check often.
