How To Make Cheesy Chicken Dip

  • The first thing to do is to gather all the ingredients so that you have everything that you need close by.
  • Preheat the oven to 400.
  • Open the cans of chicken and drain out all the water.
  • Heat a large frying pan with oil. Then add the minced garlic to the frying pan and stir around. Cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Don’t burn the garlic.
  • Add the canned chicken to the frying pan and break up the chunks, so they are more smooth. Sir around and cook for 1 minute.
  • Next, you will add the cream cheese and break it apart and stir around. It will soften as it is heated. Then add the sour cream and stir around.
  • Then add the red pepper flakes and parsley. Mix everything around to combine all the ingredients. Cook for 3 minutes or until warmed.
  • Grease a baking dish and add the chicken dip to the dish. Top with the cheddar cheese.
  • Then place in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. After that time switch to broil and broil for 2 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven.
  • Your dish is now ready to enjoy.

Tips

  • Watch the broiling time so you don’t burn the top of the chicken dip.
  • Don’t burn the garlic.

Can I Use Other Ingredients

I get this question a lot and here are some of my suggestions for substitutions.

Chicken: I used chicken canned chicken for this recipe. You can also use cooked chicken and then shred it before making the dip.

Spices: If you don’t have parsley you can omit it from the recipe.

Garlic: If you don’t have minced garlic you can use a clove of whole garlic. Cut the garlic into small pieces. You would need to cook the garlic a bit before adding the rest of the ingredients if you will be using a whole clove of garlic.

Spicy: I used red pepper flakes to make this dip slightly spicy. You could also cut up jalapenos into small pieces and add them to this dish if you really like your dips extra spicy. Hot sauce will also work.
